Powers and abilities: Under the guidance of his Grandmother Edith Collins whom was a Witch, and the Warlock Evan Hanley (later known as Nicholas Blair), Quentin gained vast Occult knowledge of the Dark Arts, and became an expert practitioner of Black Magic and Witchcraft. Also being a descendant of the Egyptian God Ra grants him vast supernatural powers, the limits of which are unknown. But originally included the ability to be reincarnated as his own Grandson. Thus Jeremiah Collins, and the 1st and 2nd Quentin Collins all being reincarnated versions of the same soul. An example of his magical powers is when in 1897, he performed a black magic ritual that resurrected Angelique from the dead. He resurrected Angelique again in the present (as shown in the new 2006 Dark Shadows Reborn audio drama House of Despair). Besides his mystical powers, he suffers from a Werewolf curse, which grants him an increased healing factor. A magical portrait painted by Charles Delaware Tate in 1897, traps the Werewolf in the portrait on the nights of a Full Moon, and makes him immortal and virtually unkillable. In 1970 he regained his past life memories of being the first Quentin Collins. So besides knowing how to travel through time using the I-ching Wands like Barnabas, he can also create a Stairway Through Time, to travel through time or to alternate universes.

The first Quentin Collins (1808-1841?) was the son of Daniel Collins and Harriet Collins. Grandson of Jeremiah Collins & Laura Murdock Stockbridge Collins aka The Phoenix. Laura the Phoenix was the Daughter of the Egyptian God Ra, which makes Quentin the Grandson of the Phoenix, and the Great-grandson of the God Ra, and explains his supernatural powers. He was obsessed with learning all he could about the occult and all things supernatural. Which lead him to secretly practice Witchcraft. He became the head of a Witches Coven. He introduced his brother Gabriel Collins wife Edith to the occult, and taught her Witchcraft. His first wife was Samantha Drew Collins and with her had a son, Thadius "Tad" Collins. His sister-in-law and brother-in-law was Roxanne and Randell Drew. His best friends was his cousin Desmond Collins, and his sailing buddy Gerard Stiles. He was off at sea for many years with his friend Gerard. While away he studied the occult in the Far East. When he returned he had the knowledge to create a Stairway Through Time. But his obsession with the supernatural, caused his marriage to Samantha to become strained. While estranged from his wife, he had several affairs, including with Joanna Mills, and with his brother Gabriel's estranged wife Edith Collins. Out of jealously his wife killed his mistress Joanna Mills. When Quentin and Tad was lost at sea for several months. Samantha had an affair with Quentin's best friend Gerard Stiles, and married him. Joanna Mills spirit later returned and tormented Samantha. Samantha then died under mysterious circumstances.

Desmond knowing about Quentin's love of the occult, foolishly brought back from the Orient, the Head of the Son of Satan, Warlock Judah Zachary as a gift to Quentin. He thought it was only a harmless artifact, but didn't realize that the head was still alive, and capable of mind control of anyone that looked upon it. Zachary had been the one that taught Miranda DuVal aka Angelique the Witch whom cursed Barnabas Collins, everything she knew back in the 1600's. He had been betrayed by Angelique. And beheaded for Witchcraft by a group of judges that included a Collins. Judah vowed revenge against all who was involved in his death. He cursed the Collins Family for all times to come and explains why they have so much misfortune and so many mysterious deaths. In 1840, when the time traveling friend of Barnabas, Dr. Julia Hoffman under the mind-control of the Warlock, failed to restore his immortal body to life due to Gerard Stiles interference. Judah took the opportunity to possess Quentin's best friend Gerard Stiles body, and used Edith Collins to help frame Quentin for murder, and Witchcraft. Fortunately at the last possible minute Angelique, Barnabas, and Desmond was able to clear his name by destroying the head of the Warlock, though killing his best friend Gerard in the process.

Once free from all of his legal problems, he married his mistress Joanna Mills younger sister, Daphne Harridge. And after being grateful for being saved from beheading for Witchcraft, by Valerie Collins aka Angelique and his cousin Barnabas, he left Collinsport with his new wife Daphne to live happily ever after.

It should also be noted that it was the 1st Quentin that used his supernatural powers to create a Stairway Through Time at Collinwood, which opened up gateways to the past/future, and to alternate universes. His tampering with time, has resulted in the entire Collin's Family Time Line from 1840 to hundreds of years in the future being fluid and capable of being changed for better or worse. His tampering with time also allowed for Barnabas Collins to travel back in time, and alter the 1st Quentin's original history of being beheaded for Witchcraft in 1840. Instead marrying Daphne Harridge and living happily ever after. Until he died and was reincarnated as the 2nd Quentin anyway. And altered the 2nd Quentin's future as a Ghost haunting Collinwood. Instead causing him to end up a cursed immortal.

The second Quentin Collins (1870-present) is the son of Geoffrey Collins and a mother who's name is never mentioned (although believed to be Laura the Phoenix, which would explain why nobody ever mentioned her name). His mother allegedly died when Quentin was an infant, having caught the Scarlet Fever from baby Quentin. Officially Quentin Collins II is the grandson of Edith Collins and Gabriel Collins. Note is speculated that the first Quentin had an affair with Edith, which would make the 1st Quentin the grandfather of the 2nd Quentin, and explain why they look the same. Like the 1st Quentin he is a descendant of the Egyptian Sun God Ra, which explains his supernatural powers. He had three siblings, two brothers, the eldest Edward, the youngest Carl, and older sister Judith Collins. His first wife was Jenny (Rakosi) Collins, with whom he had two children, a daughter Lenore Filmore, and a son whom died as a baby. He had a nephew and niece, via his brother Edward named Jamison and Nora. His lineage includes his grand-children Amy, Chris, and Tom Jennings. His best friend was the Warlock Evan Hanley. He was a member of a secret Witches Coven that Hanley was the leader of. Like his Grandmother had used him as a child, he too used Jamison Collins in black magic rituals. Yet the person he loved more than anyone else in the world was his brother Edward and sister-in-law Laura the Phoenix's son Jamison Collins, whom he loved like his own son. It is known that Quentin had an affair with Laura and even ran off to Egypt with her, but is unclear when the affair started, or if Jamison is really his son. The 2nd Quentin was cursed via a magic portrait that trapped his Werewolf curse, and rendered him immortal, and virtually unkillable. Note that Quentin presumably does not know that he is a descendant of the God Ra, nor that Laura the Phoenix was possibly his mother. So doesn't know the true reason that Laura had bewitched him, and taken him to Egypt to sacrifice him to Ra, like she tried to do all her other children, in hopes of him being reborn as an Immortal Phoenix being like her. But does know that his nephew and niece, Jamison and Nora Collins are the children of the Phoenix and grandchildren of Ra. He also knows that Jamison is reincarnated in the 20th Century as David Collins, and Nora is reincarnated as his grand-daughter Amy Jennings. His sister Judith was reincarnated as Elizabeth Collins Stoddard. His brother Edward was reincarnated as Roger Collins. His brother Carl, was reincarnated as Willie Loomis. And the Gypsy cursed baby son he had with Jenny that died, Quentin Collins III, was reincarnated as his grandson the cursed Werewolf Chris Jennings. As Jeremiah Collins his second wife, Josette duPres Collins, is reincarnated first as Lady Hampshire/Kitty Soames, and now as Maggie Evans. Also Jeremiah Collins really was Barnabas Collins brother, and not his Uncle like some sources claim. And his former brother, now reincarnated cousin Quentin Collins II, and eternal kindred spirit, Barnabas is forever the same as he was in the 1790's. The same tortured, guilty soul, forever cursed to be an immortal Vampire. And Angelique, the one that cursed Barnabas, and brought death, misery, and Dark Shadows of despair to the Collin's Family, is likewise the same sometime good, usually bad, yet one of a kind lady over the centuries.

After the death of his first wife, the second Quentin was engaged to marry the following women: Charity Trask, Angelique Bouchard, Beth Chavez, Amanda Harris, & Daphne Harridge (resurrected 1970 version of 1841 Quentin's, second wife). Note he was never able to marry any of them, due to all but Angelique and Charity dying tragically. Charity called off the engagement when she discovered Quentin was a cursed Werewolf. As for Angelique, the marriage was postponed in 1897, with the expectation that some time in the future, when Quentin is long over the memory of his other loves, he'll marry her, and allow her to become mortal and be forever freed from her obligations to her dark masters of the Underworld.

About Quentin in his own words:

I am cursed with immortality that I did not seek or want. Immortal due to a magic painting that preserves my youth. I was cursed to suffer the pain and agony of being a werewolf in 1897, later to have the curse controlled by the portrait, which dampens the wolf's effect (I still get moody three days a month, with the great risk of the wolf finding a way to escape and threaten the safety of those who get to close). Any benefits from the curses are far outweighed by the weaknesses of losing anyone I ever hold dear, with fear of hurting those that I care for. (And I have a drinking problem that is worsened at times of losing a friend or family member, or when feeling lonely, unwanted, or heartbroken.)

I sometimes feel like I have always been walking in the shadows, always alone. I never liked who I was, always running from the past. I still don't know if I like the man I am today, but I know that I want to be good and if at all possible do the right thing when it counts.

Bellow is a brief bio of my tragic life:

I was born in the 19th century. Christmas night of 1870 to be specific. I was originally destined to die when I was only 26 in 1897, but thanks to a time traveler (soulful vampire cousin Barnabas Collins), history was changed, but not necessarily for the better. I did die but I didn't become an evil ghost for long, like I originally had, instead I was raised from the dead by a evil witch (Angelique Bouchard) as a zombie to be used as an instrument of destruction against my own family. Luckily I was saved again by the time traveler who got the witch to restore me to life. But that was just the start of the painful roller coaster ride that has been my life.

When I was a young man, I was evil. Thanks to the negative influence of my Grandmother who was secretly a Witch. I became a powerful Warlock and practiced the darkest of the black arts. And as a child Grandmother used me in her black magic rituals. She even hired the family lawyer, whom was secretly an evil Warlock named Evan Hanley, to take me under his wing and teach me all he knew about the occult, satanism, and witchcraft. Thus I became an evil occultist. A cold, and manipulative man, content to use my physical and mental charms to seduce and manipulate those around me. It is through my callous abandonment of my wife Jenny that my downfall begins, ending in the curse of becoming the werewolf when a full moon shines, the curse of the werewolf was placed upon me in 1897 by Jenny's sister or as I believe, her mother Magda Rakosi, who was a powerful witch of the Kalderash tribe, a Romany gypsy. She cursed me and all my male children to follow. But what neither I nor Magda knew at the time. But later discovered to our horror, was that I and her beloved Jenny had two children and one was a son. So Magda had cursed her own blood and doomed my and Jenny's descendants to always suffer. The curse could not be lifted from my decendents but I found a cure for the werewolf curse for myself. The demon is still in me, but it is under control through a magick portrait. A side effect of the cure I found was the curse of eternal life without love. It is through these ordeals and many more that I finally learned the virtues of humility and compassion, though perhaps too late to find personal redemption of my own.

What I've done for the past century will remain a mystery for now. Just know that I traveled the world, New York, London, Cairo, Hong Kong, China, and Africa. I had many adventures along the way, and suffered the loss of family and friends.

I was in Sunnydale twice, first in the 1920's when I was somewhat of a scoundrel and ladies man, having relationships with some of Sunnydale's finest ladies (resulting in several cursed descendants - male werewolf's, and female wicca's), then I came back again in early 2003. The first time I was evil, so I came back to Sunnydale to finally make amends for my past and assist those that wanted my help in the fight against evil, puting my knowledge of the occult and all things supernatural to the use of good. I found new friends that I will do anything for. I live at an old Mansion just outside Sunnydale, The Historic William Talisker House Bed & Breakfast Inn open for guests or tenants. I will try to help the citizens of Sunnydale anyway I can. And to also help my friends along the way.
